Diwali is all about rejoicing and celebrating with friends, family, and lots of yummy food. Which means sweets, snacks, veg and non-veg mains, and the necessary Diwali rice, breads, and sides.
Diwali is the triumph of good versus evil. And what better way to celebrate the win than with your favorite Diwali rice, breads, and sides. Each state in India boasts of dishes that are unique to the region and delicious, and main courses are no different. It’s always hard decide what your Diwali menu will consist of. It’s no shock that I, and all Punjabis, think that authentic Punjabi dishes are the best for the occasion, and the obvious answer for what to make. As one would say – Go East, Go West, Punjab Is The Best.
Punjabi dishes are rustic, and traditionally made with lots of butter, ghee, spices, and veggies. They’re rich in texture and feature flavors like ginger, garlic, tomato, onion, cumin, cardamom, coriander, and saffron. Mostly cooked over low to medium heat with careful attention, the dishes are rich and incredibly flavorful.
